View Full Version : Reguarding Mr. Jones
I've just started exploring Neocron, and I guess I spent a little too much time in the starting pen, because Mr. Jones says I'm over qualified to do any work for him.
If I start another character, how much can I build it up in the starting area without disqualifying myself for the mister Jones mission?
Also, now that he's useless to me, how do I get him to leave my apartment?
One of the dialog options should be to tell him that you're not interested. If that isn't there then please put in an in-game help ticket and GM will come and pwn his ass for you.
As to your first question, you don't really need to spend any time at all in MC5 if you don't want. Just run to the GR and go to your apartment. You'll gain experience doing Jones' missions and there are plenty of other newbie ways to level up.

I liked the MC5 area. I was able to make some really quick XP and cash by going after those prototype processors. All my attributes into the 20's except PSI, and at least 75k in an afternoon. Given that, it might be worth it to skip Jones, but I'd like to see his missions out of curiosity.
I think I have to start over though, because I was on the PvP server and there wasn't anyone around to ask about skills, so I spent my skill points in a way I now realize doesn't make much sense. Another player told me there are pills that give you points back, but it sounded like it would be faster to start the character over from scratch than to earn the cash to pay for them.
I'd say you should start a guy on Terra, do a few of the MC5 runs to make you some starting cash (VERY handy when you come to the city) just make 10-20k, that should hold you for a while.
Then do the Mr. Jones missions and get your special item. The item is for your proffesion, like an assassin gets a sniper rifle and so on.
Other than that welcome to NeoCron and its good to hear someone actually liked MC5.

You can be too high a rank to do Jones mission?
If yes, at what rank is too high?
I think Jones should be a guy to rely on quiet times through out your gameplay.
He is a great tool to interact with the player, but only small portion of his potential is used.
Let me give an example. I'm a vet, but I quit playing NC and being a nice fellow I gave ALL my posession back to my clan, most part thanks to them I had tem in the first place. And now that I came back, all my chars are empty and pockets hold mere 1k in credits. Granted, capped PE and a Hybrid monk can make money fast, but it's rather hard to start making it with subpar gear, with no implants and money for drugs.
So Jones might come in handy giving missions to get better gear and money on the higher levels aswell, as a lone wolf right now I find it very hard to make my time enjoyable, and I'd prefer to be loner for a while since I spent most of my time in a Clan that doesn't exists anymore. But that option is not available for me because of the reasons explained above. And players who don't neccesarily want to join a clan are exactly in same position.
I spoke to an ingame helper and learned that you have to use Jones before level 25.
So I'm guessing my 74/55 spy can't do it then? :(

Just go straight to the city.
Use a knife on rats etc in the sewers.
Then move on to the aggies, SELL all the loot to yo's and you'll make some nice cash.

As I said, I talked to in-game help guy. He was responding to a help ticket I filed. He said level 25 was the cut-off. He also removed Mr. Jones from my apartment for me.

I thought the Tech Level of the hacktool didn't matter. Did that finally get fixed?

Any other way to get that stealthtool ?
I do not meet the T-C req for the first one at cryton's, and would very much appreciate to have a look at this one ...
