New players?

i played neocron for some time back in its release days and remember enjoying the game (for the most) and am thinking of returning with a couple of friends. Just wanted to know what the server populations are like these days? reading in quite a few places that they are low? (figures anyone? :o)
oh, and is there anyway to get this trial DLing any faster than 14.0kb/sec? :(

I think the server populations are fine right now.

I saw it hit 38% one day (380ish people)
At night .. it goes down to 7%-10%. (70-100 people)
Average is about 20%. (200 people)

All thoose figures are on Terra (Saturn).

As for the client .... i don't know .. I downloaded it at 5.2kbs on dialup :D

Low and low populations are a matter of opinion, currently the ballance at around 25-30% (250-300 people) which I feel is enough for NeoCron to feel alive, Plaza-1 is buzzing with life, Tech Haven always has some runners sitting at the tables and you tradeskiller is always within reach.

So i'd say the pops are fine right now (I wouldnt mind if they got better tho :lol: )

About faster download Spermy helped 2 other guys through a PM, might wanna drop him a line since i just upgraded my NC2 client to 2.1.

NC is the most n00b friendly area. CM is the least (mid lvl ranged mobs in the n00b areas), though best for mid-high lvl leveling.

since from what i know if wanan be a psi best to start out in dome?

The PSI class is available to all factions so you can join NC if you wish.

NC is friendly for new runners due to its layout, although the higher level spells can only be bought in the DOME you can obtain these through players who sell on trade.

DOY is for the most part disjointed with few landmarks to find your way around if your new and you may find it hard to meet other players or stop yourself running round in circles without even noticing :D SO i would Go NC.

Besides Terra is a 4 slot server so you can start another char in DOY if you wish take a look around at some point, just start in NC you'll have enough to learn without having to draw a bloody map to find your way around ;)

actually i was on DOY before so i kinda used to DOY layout
and NC also
so i dont mind togo either one
just wnna know which one got more ppls to mingle around :D
