As it wasn’t possible to convert the combat skill evaluation and the class orientations par for par, it is possible to discuss the pro and contra for each class. How strong or weak is my class after the balancing changes? Are their characteristics as developed as announced or as they should be? Did the balancing really make Neocron fairer?

We’d like answers to those questions to be able to perform possible fine-tunings. We’d like to focus on discussion here – please report bugs here (http://forum.neocron.com/forumdisplay.php?f=191)!

Balancing Aspects (APU):
- Very strong damage generation
- Bad resistances
- Medium range

Balancing Aspects (PPU):
- No damage generation (Exception: Soulcluster – PvE)
- Exceptional resistances
- Short to medium range

Fundamental changes:

Special case:
Increasing „Resist PSI (PSR)“ – especially for other classes – decreases the strength of manipulations by PSI modules – this applies both to aggressive (APU) and passive (PPU) PSI modules.

Subskills:
- Resist PSI (PSR) – Psychic Power
- Focussing (FCS) – Psychic Power, replaces Mental Steadiness (MST)

Orientation as APU:
- Aiming process for aggressive PSI weapons
- No aiming prevents a cast, poor aiming leads to reduced damage
- Line of Sight
- Limitation to damage generating modules

Orientation as PPU:
- Support: Protection of friends (i.e. shields), removing disadvantages (i.e. stuns)
- AntiSupport: Applying disadvantages to enemies (i.e. damage boost)

Missing Features: None

Known Bugs:
- Soulcluster do not have a shot effect

This thread is currently closed and will be available for discussion after a familiarization phase (Please check for more information (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=136935)).

Monks all round have been hugely changed. There is already a seperate APU and PPU thread , so just going to discuss the APU vs Hybrid here.

##########
APU:

APU dmg is on par with rifles/cannons/pistols , whilst aim lock is still pretty much insta-click , this is countered by the pre-cast freq penalty which guns dont suffer from. In theory the time it takes for an APU to target and wait for the spell to land is about the same as the extra time a gun user needs to line up a shot. APUs still have this edge in duels and op fights , but a skilled gun-aimer could equal or exceed their dps slightly if his targets line themselves up.

Max foreign shielding on an APU is 25% , with their 75% total resist cap, I found its possible to spec a setup with 75% energy/xray and 66% pierce. At a cost of very low hlt and 0 ath, and just 25% fire/poison

Or an all round setup can reach about 60% vs all, with moderate hlt/ath. But 60% vs 75% is a big change vs the primary dmgs of energy(and xray from xbows) there is 60% more dmg taken at 60% vs 75%.

Regardless, I believe good resist setups will be extremely importent to APUS.

HYBRID:

Hybrids started out uber in 2.2, but this has been nerfed, their self shields now give a max of 25% no matter how good the shield. With basic shields giving 10%, blessed giving 30% , holy giving 85% .....its obvious using holy is a waste of some 60% of the shield and the only holy spell worth using will be heal.

Thus 2.2 hybrids will now be be gearing to use only blessed shields, with a blessed (or holy heal) resulting in the same defence and healing as a foreign buffed APU. With this setup (blessed only) they can reach some of the APU rares , making them pretty close to a pure apu offence wise.....allthough poison beam may well become their staple spell.

Resist setup will be similar to APUs.

Hmm, those hybrid figures are off.....

More testing today shows:

Basic shields give about 6%
Blessed shields are giving about 11%
Blessed heal on a hybrid gave me 16/tick

Looks like you will need to use holy shields to get 25%

But APU Offense is already pretty gimp at blessed lvl so....

Seems like hybrids are now pretty weak overall atm. I'm not even sure a blessed hyb will beat an un-buffed APU atm. Nevermind a buffed one.
