I think a lot needs to be adjusted regarding the basic shields vs the holy foreign shields:

Atm, all 3 self-cast holy shields are giving 75% , and foreign cast of 16%.

While the 3 self-cast basic shields give:
Deflector 18%
Protector 28%
Absorber 36%

So basic absorber is twice as strong as basic deflector , while holy absorber is no stronger then holy deflector...
And more noticably basic absorber is twice as strong as foreign holy absorber.

IMO foreign holy should become equal to self basic , so either all 3 basics should be changed to 16% ... or the 3 respective foreign holys should change to 18%/28%/36%........(or my personal choice is to change all 3 basics to 25% and all 3 foreign holys to 25%.)

I was just about to embark on a mad math binge to set up my resists (armor and con) to be in line with the absorption by basic shields. All 25% would definitely make that simpler. I'm looking to get 75% energy and pierce and 60% the rest (on a PE). If I can do better then good. I think my monk is pretty much fucked though (assuming the hyb situation is sorted), I might make him PPU / PPU-hyb / one of my wierd standard weapon setups or just delete him. :p

There's no reason why PPU shields shouldn't be stronger or equal to self cast shields.. I play a PPU for a reason, what's the point in playing my favourite class when I don't make a difference or if I'm just gimping the person I'm supposedly supporting?

The PPU class (or at least the way it's worked up until 2.2) was a probably a bad idea in the first place, but since we have it we may aswell make it mean something to have.

So far I've only seen the balancing project go very awry, I'm willing to stick it out but I'm fast losing faith in what it's offering. In my opinion, if it's going to continue on this path, then only certain aspects of the project should be implemented. There's parts which I'm liking and others which seem to be changed for the sake of change (in some cases, said parts have ended up even less effective/balanced/functional than before). I'm beginning to see only certain aspects of neocron pvp should have been tweaked, at the very most changed. Mainly being hybrids being too powerful, PEs being too powerful, tanks not being powerful enough (or vastly favouring players with a high skill level, leaving average players unable to play the tank class. Therefore, they all flocked to the PE corner) and para. Para should be removed, that's all there is to it. Perhaps Jini was right, players might possibly be running slightly too fast but I'm not complaining.

Can anyone confirm these damage reduction figures?

So a Tank with no self cast will get a maximum of 16% damage reduction from each shield type.

And please confirm the damage type each shield affects.

Making the three shield spells equal tl per level would be much more sensible (shield power is based on TL).

I did some more tank/ppu testings:

PPU Holy Absorbtion (nrg/xray) gives 14% foreign cast
Holy Protection (fire/poison) gives 15% foreign cast
Holy Deflection (force/pierce) gives 16% foreign cast

It appears all 3 rare shields give about the same 75%self/15% foreign , but the PPUS dmg rating on the spells effects it so the lower TL deflector is easier to get a higher dmg on (135%) resulting in 16% foreign, while the higher TL Absorbtion can only get about 130% dmg, resulting in the 14% foreign cast......etc

For now, you can assume a tank to get between 14% and 16% shields from foreign casts.

= GAY. needs to be fixed for ppu support to be... well... not even necessary but viable.
