Default Statement concerning the Neocron2 Asia release

A few clarifications concerning the now cancelled release of Neocron2 in Asia:

The goal:

The plan was to release Neocron2 in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia etc.) with the available resources in that area (10tacle Asia). However, due to the available structures, this market does not offer a volume similar to what a launch in China, Japan or Korea would offer. About 4000-5000 users, that would only be bound loosely to the game through a gamepoint (payment) system, were expected.

Implementation:

Reakktor trained the 10tacle Asia staff and made sure the technical framework met the requirements for the Asian market (e.g. implementation of the gamepoint system). Everything else was coordinated and organized by 10tacle Asia. They prepared and executed a first beta phase and evaluated said beta test. The resulting feedback showed that Neocron2 is not really compatible with the requirements of this special market and that the effort of a separate launch with its own server hosting and support would not pay off. Especially the complexity of the game and slow start into the game seemed to pose rather sizeable problems.

Commercial consequences:

None. Asia was completely dissociated from the remaining Neocron2 plans. Of course it would have been nice to obtain more players from Asia, but the potential turnovers were not planned into the budget. A possible positive effect may be that the results from the Asian beta test could accelerate the plans for a new Neocron.

Consequences for the game:

The cancellation of Neocron Asia will have a positive effect for the Community. I can now assign more resources to the most important subjects concerning Neocron2. I hope to be able to positively surprise you in the coming weeks. I will however refrain from revealing anything yet, as I learned my lesson with promises Let yourselves be surprised.

I can quote some of nid's posts saying that the reason certain things were not happening was due to AISA Release. That to me reads .....
WE have taken the current resources available and dedicated to a new venture at the expense of the current community.
By saying YOU can now dedicate more resources to current community only means you are pulling the resource that should have been dedicated to sorting out the needs of the established community...

No commercial consequences? That's a major load of bulldrek.

Hell, with the potential at the southeast Asia (even they are tiny compared to for example South Korea) KK and 10tacle could have gained a lot of market out there, with the incoming money flow things would look a lot better. I think you're being overly positive about this right now (which is, in a way, good way to look at things). I guess all I can say : better luck next time and aim for the bigger asia markets.


10Tacle should propably rename to Tentacle, and then go for Japan, I bet it would be a big hit there ;]

Glad to hear that there will be no detrimental effects felt here! It's a shame it didn't take off there as well, but maybe those people that tried it there, and enjoyed it, can play here instead.

I have to admit that this game definitely has one of the steepest learning curves for new players. However, the end result is worth it.

If anyone looks around http://forums.nc-2.com you will notice the last patches releases are the same as the ones here, and the same bugs.

and not farcical badly thought out LINEAR events where oneside has the bias as the dipshits who wrote it are all slanted one way, and seem to have no concept of GMing a RP Event.


Oh and if yu cant guess... im angry at this. I guess theres NO point in any procity EVER turning up to any other even thats held... way to go team

One possible bonus is that the few players from the Asian beta may come here as a few of them seemed to be really enjoying it -shrug-

Its sad to see a venture failing i just hope KK can now deliver...

I think it's because 10Tacle doesn't have presence there and it would propably be too costly/risky to expand there.

A new neocron?

Why would the thought of building a "new" neocron even cross someone's mind when the "old" neocron isnt even up to par?

The international release went over like a fart in church. There's been no indication that a US/Canada release will even take place. The ball has been dropped so many times, it's almost become an expectation to see something negative happen than something positive.

If there is going to be a "new" neocron, do us all the favor of actually updating the game engine. Don't just throw some new models, textures and serious, game-changing (flawed) mechanics at us and call it an update. Especially when those new models and textures seem to be causing serious problems both with the client and the database.

So yeah. Surprise me. Ignore any requests anyone makes about upcoming changes. Forget planfiles. Let us find out what the changes are the day of the patch, but give us detailed patchnotes so we can know what to look for. The last set of patchnotes were, in my opinion, great...much better than some of the ones in the past. Keep up with that. And add in some content.

Give us back the old neocron, fire the developers and extra staff. Just maintain the servers and end up with more leftover cash in the end.

NC1 > NC2.
