Important: Letter from the CEO

As promised I now have the official statement from our CEO Kirk Lenke regarding the situation with 10Tacle Studios filed for insolvency

As many of you probably already know from the ad-hoc news, our parent company, the 10Tacle Studios AG, filed for insolvency on August 6. As the Reakktor Media GmbH is a 100% daughter of the 10Tacle Studios AG, I also had to file for insolvency in my position as CEO of Reakktor Media. Within the next days, the insolvency process will start and an administrator will be appointed.

For Neocron and you as players, this does not affect the server availability, at least for now. Only the support availability will be limited at the moment.

We have worked out several promising solutions to keep the company running, which will be presented to the insolvency administrator. In the best case, these solutions will be accepted and the company will keep running as usual. In the worst case, Reakktor Media will be dissolved, which would likely result in the closure of the Neocron service.

We’ve gone through thick and thin with you during the last six years and it is thanks to your loyalty and dedication that Neocron is still alive today and can still fascinate many players.

I would have liked to address you earlier, but the workload in the last weeks and months since my appointment have made this simply impossible. I did however read your comments and as a direct result, work on a new patch has been started and as you already know, the subscription fees have been lowered. I hope to be able to talk to you again soon, with more positive news. Until then I hope you enjoy your time in the game and with the community.

Whatever may happen in the coming weeks, I’d like to thank you for everything in the name of the staff.

As soon as we have new information, we will let you know.

Our thoughts are with KK employees at this difficult time. Here's hoping you find a way to keep the business going.

Neocron has enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent weeks what with the summer holidays and lowering of the fee, this news reminds us to enjoy the game more than ever. See you all on the battlefield.

One would imagine that if you have some rescue packages lined up, the administrator would be unlikley to turn them down. Still, it's hard to tell, and there is always the risk that some of KK's IP are worth more without the company than with...

Out of curioisty, who technically owns the content and code in the case of both BP and NC?

Having been involved in my early years in practice with insolveny law the first point of call is to keep the company going, this is a marked change in years gone by when it was just wound up.

The administrator if he is worth anything will look at EVERY possible avenue before he liquidates. If there is a viable solution and the numbers stack up he will normally target the company a deadline to reach a defined target. If that is missed then game over.

I wish KK all the best in this very trying time, always a very worrying and stressful process for employees.

i do hope that a way is found to keep KK afloat! Good luck.

wow. im stunned i really am. never expected this. it will be a sad day if the servers shut down so fingers crossed things will pan out.

i have to ask. will BP end up being closed as well? perhaps the rights to NC will be sold off to another developer?

Nothing lasts forever.

We have had some good times in NC, and we will continue to till its ending days.
It's very common for games companies to close down, especially mmorpgs. Face of Mankind has closed, Hellgate: London is on it way out too.

What is sad is that generic games get success and our niche and unique game faces harsh adversity.

Plus I bet all the Neocron doom sayers are very smug at this point.

It's been a great ride so far over the years. I have been around since beta of Neocron 1 and while I have not played in years I have still tried to follow the progress. I hope truely this does not mark the end of an era and pray that something can be done to keep Neocron running
